About the Museum

A cozy vintage living room with dark wooden shelves filled with miniature furniture, toys, and collectibles, green walls, floral upholstered furniture, a colorful patterned rug, and a ceiling decorated with gold stars and a sunburst light fixture.

The Office of Collecting & Design is a traveling museum: part wonderland, part library, and part nostalgia machine, devoted to the diminutive, the misplaced, the unusual, and the forgotten. The space is an elaborate love letter of leftover fragments from our collective memories —meticulously organized and displayed for maximum satisfaction and delight.

Immerse yourself in our traveling 42’ trailer where you can open every drawer, explore every box, and discover to your heart’s content. Visitors are able to participate in our Flatlay Session, our Scavenger Hunt, or just come in to enjoy the space at their own pace.

The museum typically visits only one (occasionally two) cities per state and remains open for approximately five days in each location. In most cases, cities are visited only once before the tour continues onward. When the museum is scheduled to appear in a particular region, it is a brief and special opportunity. Many visitors choose to travel from neighboring cities or states to attend, often making a full day (or even a weekend) of their visit. Guests are encouraged to plan ahead and take part in the full experience, including workshops, events, and collaborations with local partners.

Extracurricular Activities Presented by

The Falstaff Project

A cluttered collection of small toys, buttons, trinkets, and miscellaneous items scattered across a surface.

Trinket Swap

Thursday, October 22, 6:30-8:30 PM.
Free Event. RSVP required.

How it works: You get a name tag, a place card, and a spot at a table. Set out your smalls, then wander. Find something you want? The place-card tells you whose it is. Find them and ask. (They can say yes. They can say no. Saying no is allowed and encouraged, and nobody takes it personally.) And even if you don't get the trinket you want, you may make a friend!

Bring Trinkets. Trade Trinkets. Join a roomful of other miniature enthusiasts, vintage smalls lovers, and the best kind of weirdos. Bring small things you're ready to move into the world, and hunt for new treasures to take home. Bring 2 objects or bring 50. The smaller, the better! No money exchanged.

*Event does not take place inside the Office of Collecting & Design Museum. You may purchase museum tickets in advance here.

Collection of various jewelry and accessories, including necklaces, rings, earrings, and decorative items, displayed on black backgrounds in a collage-style layout.

All Ages Flatlay Workshop

Saturday, October 24, 11:00 AM-12:30 PM.
Free Event. RSVP required. Designed for kids and families.

How it works: A hands-on workshop centered on the art of the flatlay: carefully arranging objects and photographing them from above. The Office of Collecting & Design brings a curated case of museum treasures. Participants select objects that speak to them, arrange a composition with guidance, and have their flatlay photographed.

The activity encourages close observation, curiosity, and creative play while inspiring new ways to see and engage with everyday objects. Through the process, participants are invited to reflect on ideas of value, reuse, personal meaning, and memory. Flatlay photographs are available for purchase at $1.00.
